The firm was founded in 2006 by Billy E. Loftin, Jr., James D. Cain, Jr., and Thomas P. LeBlanc.

Two of the firm's founders were called to judicial service—a distinction that reflects both their individual accomplishments and their dedication to promoting the quality of the legal profession. Since 2019, James D. Cain, Jr. has served as a United States District Court Judge for the Western District of Louisiana. Since 2024, Thomas P. LeBlanc has served as United States Magistrate Judge for the Western District of Louisiana. Their appointments to the federal bench underscore the professionalism, integrity, and legal excellence on which the firm is founded.

Throughout the firm's development, Billy E. Loftin, Jr. has demonstrated leadership and integrity. With more than thirty years of trusted service to the legal profession, Billy has developed a practice encompassing municipal and governmental law, corporate and business representation, commercial litigation, real estate law, title matters, estate planning, family law, and personal injury litigation. Billy has established a reputation for practical judgment, accessibility, and dedication to clients through the representation of municipalities, public officials, businesses, developers, financial institutions, and families across Louisiana.

Effective January 1, 2024, Cody Vidrine and Van Seneca joined the firm as partners, continuing the firm's values, culture, and commitment to excellence.

Van C. Seneca brings more than three decades of legal experience to Loftin Law Group, LLC. After law school, Van served as a law clerk with the federal court in Lake Charles for the first year of his law career, and then entered the private practice of law, focusing on civil matters, including representing industrial and corporate clients with a local law firm. He then operated his own law firm for nearly twenty years, before joining a Lake Charles civil litigation defense firm, where he practiced until being recruited to join Loftin Law Group. Licensed in both Louisiana and Texas, Van focuses his practice on business and corporate law, civil litigation, insurance disputes, real estate transactions, wills and successions, and creditor rights. Throughout his career, he has also served in leadership roles outside the courtroom, including serving on corporate boards, providing guidance for business operations and corporate governance.

Cody J. Vidrine joined Loftin Law Group, LLC after beginning his legal career in 2016. A native of Oakdale, Louisiana, Cody earned his Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center and gained valuable early experience through judicial internships with the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana and the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal. Since joining the firm, he has helped expand its litigation practice throughout Louisiana and, following his admission to the Texas Bar in 2024, into Texas as well. Today, Cody serves as a Partner, continuing the firm's commitment to dedicated client advocacy and regional growth. In May 2025, Dustan J. Abshire joined Loftin Law Group as Of Counsel, adding nearly three decades of legal experience across criminal defense, family law, personal injury, and civil rights. A former Assistant District Attorney with prior service at the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, Dustan brought a prosecutor's insight and an investigator's rigor to the firm's growing practice, further strengthening Loftin Law Group's reputation for skilled, results-driven advocacy throughout Southwest Louisiana.
